AMUWO ODOFIN LOCAL GOVERNMENT MOURNS THE DEATH OF COMRADE BAMIDELE ATURU - JULY 2014

  • WE HAVE LOST A GALLANT COMRADE FIGHTER - COMRADE ADEWALE

The Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale has commiserated with the family of Mr. Bamidele Aturu.

Comrade Adewale while speaking with our senior correspondent acknowledged with grief that, the vacuum created by the demise of Comrade Bamidele Aturu will never be filled but urged the family members to be consoled. The late human right activist led a dogged fight against oppressive tendency. He lived a simple and God-fearing life on earth, worthy of emulation.

“He came to prominence as a fighter against power abuses when, as a member of the National Youth Service Corps, he refused to shake the hand of a military administrator of Niger State, Col. Lawan Gwadabe, in 1988 during his NYSC passing out parade, declaring that the military had caused great harm to the democratic aspirations of Nigerians.”

The Local Government boss noted that the late human right activist name has been written on gold and his footprints will remain indelible on the sands of time.

In his words, “On behalf of the government and people of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, I commiserate with the family, friends, and associates of the deceased and may we not witness this kind of tragedy again”.
