HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, INFRASTRUCTURE TOP DISCOURSE
The Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State has organized its 2018 budget stakeholders forum.
Addressing stakeholders at the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Legislative building, Council Secretariat, Festac Town, Lagos on the importance of the meeting, the Executive Chairman, Engr. Valentine Buraimoh noted that “this forum must lead us to mapping out a ‘Budget of Prudency” that loudly and unambiguously responds to the needs and aspirations of our people, as well as fulfils the promises and pledges of the state government.
“These priorities, of necessities, must place emphasis on the critical roles played by education, security, infrastructure, youths and women empowerment, sports, as well as health sector in the development of our amiable local council development area”.
The Council helmsman further used the ocassion to intimate stakeholders of his administration’s amiable achievements.
“The hallmark was the reconstruction of sections of 1stavenue Road, 11 road and asphalt spot patching of 3rd avenue road in Festac Town. The aforementioned roads had been in bad shape.
In the environment sector, we cleared the drainage at 11 road and buffer zone, 2nd avenue, Festac Town. Also evacuated refuse black spot on Durbar road, Mile 2; Gani Adams road; Abule Ado B/stop and Circular road, mile 2, Amuwo amongst others. Environment is one of our topnotch priority and we intend to continue with the rejuvenation!
” We have also set in motion policies that will revamp our educational sector. The health sector is also getting our attention, has we have started the renovation of our health care center in Festac Town, very soon Abule Ado and Mile 2 will also be touched.
“Recently, we successfully hosted the Festac Music Festival, where popular A-list artist like Daddy Showkey, Baba Dee, Reminisce and a host of upcoming artist performed to the delight of the crowd. The musical fiesta is used to encouraged our talented youths who do not have the platform to do what they know how to do best. I want to assure you that we will continue to give ample opportunity and platforms to our teaming youths in the local government to excel.”
The Council Chief also urged stakeholders to pay their taxes and levies promptly. For the council to succeed in its efforts to better the people’s lives, the stakeholders must devote their energies towards the growth and development of the area, he said.
Meanwhile, the stakeholders appealed to the Council boss to consider the issue of excruciating problem of levy evasion, environmental mismanagement, infrastructure deficit, occasional security breaches , drug abuse, women empowerment and youth restiveness in this year’s budget.
