AMUWO ODOFIN LGA CELEBRATES COMMUNITY DAY
The Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA, Engr. Valentine Buraimoh has endorsed the state governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode for a second term in office.
He made this disclosure while giving his address during the Community Day Celebration in the Local Government, held at Festac Town, Lagos.
According to the Council helmsman , the endorsement is a tonic to encourage a performer whose commendable zeal has made developmental projects to be dotted across the nooks and crannies of the State.
He noted that the endorsement is a reflection of the majority of the populace residing in the local council.
The chairman further described the projects initiated by the governor as ‘ exemplary, laudable, commendable, exceptional and praiseworthy’, saying every part of Lagos is now being carried along at the same time with the same pace.
The Council Chief stressed that the Community Development Committee(CDC) is the fourth tier of government, hence it should be carried along in the developmental programmes of the local government.
” Before I assumed office, the CDC don’t have an office but as we speak I have given them a temporary office where they can run their activities. I have also told them that a comfortable place will be given to them soonest.
” We also jacked up their monthly imprest and other sundries. I regard them as partners in progress”, he affirmed.
The CDC chairman, Comrade Jola Ogunlusi appreciated the gallant efforts of the Council boss in re-positioning the CDC in his domain, noting that the CDC would continue to give the mayor of Amuwo the necessary support.
Meanwhile, the governor of Lagos State, Who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Wale Oluwo averred that the State Government would continue to give the CDC their special recognition.
The Governor further posited that the decision to celebrate the day across the 20LG/LCDAs simultaneously was informed by the impressive performance of the various CDAs and CDCs across the State over the years.
He stated that that the decentralization of the celebration would result in increased communalism by the various communities, commended the over 3,900 CDAs in the State for initiating various self-help projects and for complementing government’s efforts in their various localities.
The representative of the Governor, promised to discuss the issue raised by stakeholders to the Governor to look into.
