The Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA, Engr. Valentine Buraimoh yesterday flagged off the Maternal Newborn and Child Health ( MNCH ) Week in company of his Wife, Mrs Opeyemi Buraimoh and the Supervisor for Health, Ms Anagbalu Chinyere at the Primary Health Care Center, Festac Town, Lagos.
Speaking at the occasion, Engr. Buraimoh commended the state government for giving priority to maternal and child health.
He noted that the MNCH week would provide a unique opportunity for residents of the local government to improve the health seeking behaviours of the whole family especially, mothers and care-givers of children under 5 years of age to appropriate services available at the primary health care centers in the local government.
The Council Chief further stressed that local government would not relent on its oars at ensuring that preventive measures against maternal and child deaths are embraced to ensure that maternal and child health are available.
He appealed to ” mothers to continue to take care of their children.”
The wife of the Executive Chairman urged parents and caregivers to take advantage of the weeklong activities offered by the MNCH week and ensure that they benefit by accessing the services at any of the Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) nearest to them.
