Engr. Valentine Buraimoh, the Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, has given out forms for the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations to indigent students of the council area.
Presenting the forms at the Council secretariat headquarters, Festac Town, Lagos, he said his administration was aware of the fact that education remains a veritable tool for the social, economic and political development of the nation.
He further stated that his administration was trying its best within the limit of its financial resources to assist the youths, being the considered leaders of tomorrow, he said: ” We are all aware of the financial imbalance in the country as we speak and we thought it germane to help the indigent students who do not have the wherewithal to further their education”.
“This gesture is in fulfillment of one of the promises made by this administration upon assumption in office to make education the first priority.
“In retrospect, this same gesture has been the policy thrust of the All Progressives Congress Party for long in our local government and we intend to continue it.
The Council helmsman posited that the Local Government has arranged free tutorials for the beneficiaries at 5th Avenue Primary school, Festac Town, Lagos.
He further assured the beneficiaries to represent the local government well, noting that the local government has concluded plans to give out bursary awards to the best students that scores high at the UTME.
” Your optimal performance will be highly appreciated, because it will serve as a propelling force for this administration to do more.
” We want to enjoin you not to see this opportunity as a mere happenstance . An opportunity lost cannot be regained. Be studious, smart, and a goal getter in your academic pursuit”, he posited.
