The Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA, Engr. Valentine Buraimoh on Monday flagged off a two-week skills acquisition and mentorship programme for women and youths in the local government.
The flag off of the skills acquisition programme, which falls within the developmental agenda of the present administration , was performed at the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu legislative building, Council secretariat, Festac Town, Lagos.
Engr. Buraimoh , said the programme was aimed at bettering the lives of the beneficiaries.
He noted that joblessness had forced many youths to engage in anti-social behaviours, just as he urged the beneficiaries to see the programme as a great opportunity and take maximum advantage of it.
” As a government we cannot employ everybody. I expect you to take this initiative from us seriously. You don’t need to go to abroad to get skills. It is my expectation that after the training, you will be better equipped to help yourself, community and the society”, the Council helmsman posited.
The programme will run from the 20th of November to 1st December, 2017
The areas of training will include; Make up and Gele; Beads and Wire Works; Decoration and Event Planning; Photography and Video Editing; Fashion Designing; Hair Making; and catering amongst others
