FESTAC LINK BRIDGE REPAIR WORKS BEGIN

ENGR. BURAIMOH HAILS GOV. AMBODE’ S COMMITMENT

The much anticipated repair work on the Festac Link Bridge in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Lagos State has begun.

The Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA, Engr. Valentine Buraimoh who led some of his Executive Members including the Supervisor for Works,  Dare Ojepe and Supervisor for the Environment, Nonso Inekwere to inspect the on-going rehabilitation , commended the Governor of the State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for his prompt action on the affected bridge.


” When the incident happened, we wrote a preliminary report to His Excellency requesting for the assistance of the State Government to see to the repair of the said bridge because of the impact of the inferno on the bridge.

” To God be the glory, the ‘Governor General’ of Lagos State has come to the rescue of road users and the citizens of the local government.

” We cannot thank him enough. The good people of the local government are more than happy for the quick response from  the State government.

” It may interest you to also note that this bridge is the only link bridge  leading and exiting Festac. In our letter, we also requested for more roads to be constructed to reduce this kind of ordeal the road users are experiencing now.

Allaying the fears of motorists and commuters,  the Council helmsman assured Lagosians of free vehicular movement, adding that the officials of the State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) had strategized traffic control measures that would ease vehicular movement on the bridge and alternative routes.

He urged motorists plying this route to always stay tuned to the Traffic Radio for timely update of traffic reports on and around the Festac Link Bridge, emphasizing that the transportation that LASTMA officials and Police officers would be stationed at every point of diversion and interchange for adequate traffic control.

It would be recalled that tragedy hit Festac Town in the later part of last year,   as vehicles and  commercial motorcycles were  burnt when a tanker laden with diesel fell and spilled its content on the Festac Link Bridge in Awuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Lagos State.
