The Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA, Engr. Valentine Buraimoh on thursday made case for continued religious tolerance in the state, saying it was key to economic growth and development.
The Council helmsman while speaking at the Amuwo Odofin New Year Prayer day organized by the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Amuwo Odofin LG Chapter and Muslim Youth Association of Nigeria, Amuwo Odofin Area, urged Muslims and Christians faithfuls to continue to live in peace and harmony.
The Council boss identified harmonious co-existence among all adherents of various religions in the local government as a necessary impetus to bring about peace, progress and prosperity.
According to Engr. Buraimoh , every religion preaches peace and harmonious co-existence among all people, and that it was important for the people to continue to live by such principle to foster growth and economic prosperity.
The Chairman said he was highly appreciative of the support extended to his administration by religious leaders as well as the religious tolerance and cooperation existing in the local government , pledging never to take it for granted.
Thanking religious leaders for their prayers and support, Engr. Buraimoh assured that his administration would continue to uphold and protect the right of all citizens to freedom of belief and of worship.
“Let me again use this opportunity to pledge our commitment to uphold and protect the right of all citizens to freedom of belief and freedom of worship. Every religion preaches peace and harmonious co-existence among all people.
“We must continue to live by this principle so that our local government, state and nation will continue to grow in peace, progress and prosperity,” he said.
Also, the Honourable Member representing Amuwo Odofin constituency 1, Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu appreciated the organizers for organizing such an important programme for the local government, noting that such programme breed peace and harmony in the community.
He tasked all to remain committed to the teachings of the Bible and Quoran.
Meanwhile, the religious leaders in there prayer sections prayed for good governance, peaceful coexistence between tribes tongues, all residents in the community, Lagos State;, Nigeria, properties Infrastructural development and restoration of lost glory of Amuwo Odofin LGA.
